Name of bottle: A. DE LUZE & FILS NUMBER 20

Written on labels: A. DE LUZE & FILS REG. in U.S, PAT. OFFICE Cognac fine champagne Number 20 Bottled by Bordeaux, France imported by Paxton & Gallagher Co. Omaha, NEB. product of France. On the side it has a green 16cent Nebraska liquor stamp on the top it has an intact red 4/5 quart U.S. internal revenue distilled spirits stamp with the numbers 29-0002184.In the molding of the bottle it says federal law forbids sale or re-use ofthis bottle below the neck of the bottle. On the bottom of the bottle in the molding it says A. DE LUZE & FILS BORDEAUX (FRANCE). 4/5 Quart 84 proof

Story: I picked this bottle up from an estate sale from the Brandeis family. This family owned a high end department store in Nebraska some time ago. I have the bottle it is in great shape unopened and full right above the bottom of the neck. I would love to sale this bottle to the right person!

Email from DE LUZE:
The DE LUZE brand was purchased over thirty years ago by the then Rémy Martin group. Its HQ was moved from Bordeaux to Machecoul (near Nantes). Then over the years the production was moved back to Cognac and the brand was again sold and purchased by ourselves in 2006.
Over these years and moves, the archives of the brand were lost.

I have no idea what is the reason behind the No 20 blend as this product is named.

However, to give you an idea of the value of historical bottles of DE LUZE, two were sold in Boston in May this year. One was millésimed as 1820 and the other 1850, they both went under the hammer for approximately $1,300.
I do not believe that the contents of this bottle are as old as these two, therefore I would hazard a guess at something between $500-800 for its uniqueness and collectorship value.

If you visit our web site, you will see that DE LUZE still uses the same shape bottle today with different elements of its range. This probably makes the DE LUZE bottle, the oldest brand iconic bottle of the spirits market … who knows ?

The owner is open to discuss selling this bottle, so please submit you interest below so we can bring the buyers and seller together!
