Tesseron Lot 29 – Cognac Review

Tesseron has a great stock of old Cognac, for example the LOT N ° 29 is completely made from Cognacs which are older than 83 year! The naming (19th century) 29 is named after the youngest Cognac in the blend.
The Tesseron LOT N ° 29, received 100 Parker points, the most ever given to a Cognac by well known reviewer Robert Parker. What  does Cognac Fans think about about this Cognac?

QUEEN’S 1952 Cognac highlights auction

A bottle of Hine Grande Champagne Cognac from 1952 is among several lots of exceptional cognac to feature in Bonhams Fine & Rare Wines sale on 14th February at New Bond Street, London.
Accompanied by a bottle of Hine Grande Champagne from 1904, the two bottles are estimated to sell for at least £400 – 500. A parcel of 1952 vintage was set aside in the producer’s personal reserves to commemorate the accession to the throne of Queen Elizabeth II.

233 YO Courvoisier Cognac discovered in Dutch Collection on Christmas Sale for £90,000 at Harrods in London

Harrods, world’s largest department store in London, showcases the oldest Courvoisier & Curlier cognac vintage 1789.
The 233-year-old cognac on display in the Harrods wine shop’s tasting room, was only recently recognized as the earliest known vintage of the prestigious French Cognac brand. It was discovered in the the World largest Old Liquors collection of Dutch collector Bay van der Bunt.
In recognition of this rare find, Harrods and Courvoisier issue an open invitation to cognac lovers all around the world to join them in celebrating the discovery of this rare spirit.

Visiting Hine Cognac in Jarnac

A few weeks ago I was invited by Hine to visit them in Jarnac, France. Founded by Thomas Hine, they are beautifully located at the Quai de l’Orangerie on the banks of the Charente River. The building is beautiful from the in- and outside with a beautiful garden.
First we went to the beautiful cellars behind their building in Jarnac, where Hine ages some of their Cognacs. They really got some beautiful barrels, all made from Tronçais and Limousin oak.

Your Cognac: J. Dupont & Co 1890 Cognac

A reader send us a vintage J. Dupont & Co Cognac from 1890! That’s 122 years old, wow! According the label the Cognac is aged for 44 years in oak barrels and must be filled somewhere in 1934. The content level is still quite good, so it appears to us that it must be kept in a dark and cool place, the owner found it in a basement, for a long time!

£50,000 vintage 1788 Cognac Shattered

A clumsy customer at London’s Playboy Club managed to destroy a $77,615 (£50,000) bottle of  a very expensive historic Cognac, which dated back to 1788.
The Cognac, a Café Anglais Clos de Griffier Vieux from 1788, was destroyed after a businessman, who had ordered two glasses of the brandy at £5,050 a measure, asked to look at the bottle.

Berry Bros – Grande Champagne des Héritiers 1904

A reader sends us images of an Berry Bros. and Rudd vintage Cognac from 1904.  Berry Bros shipped the Cognac in 1967 to England and bottled it in 1977. Makes it 74 years of storage in an oak barrel. This Cognac is described by connoisseurs as Late Landed Vintage Cognac.

Your Cognac: Lheraud Tres Vieille Reserve du Paradis

A reader has a Lheraud Tres Vieille Reserve du Paradis Petite Champagne 1942 (bottled on 26-4-2003), she received this wonderful and exclusive vintage 1942 Cognac as a gift some years ago. Although it is about 70 years old, this Cognac still contains 47%.
