Baron Otard released a limited-edition XO Gold exclusively in duty-free and travel-retail. Baron Otard XO Gold Precious Edition is available in one-liter bottles presented in a special gold-coloured pack and was designed to give the cognac “an even stronger presence” in-store, according to the company.
The quality of this XO Gold Precious Edition is the same as the “normal” XO Gold.

One of our reader has a bottle of Otard XO Cognac. This beautiful tear-shaped bottle unfortunately discontinued last year in favor for a fresher design, see Baron Otard XO Gold.
Otard did a major restyling and rebranding lately, the name has been changed from Otard to Baron Otard, also the bottle-design (See picture: left old, right new bottle) and blends changed.
Most shocking change in blend is the Otard VSOP Fine Champagne, the new Baron Otard is no 100% Fine Champagne Cognac anymore. Luckily the great taste didn’t changed very much. We will post the review of this new Cognac very soon!

Visiting the Cognac Region is a great way to learn more about Cognac, especially when you visit some Cognac distillers with their great and interactive tours…
On YouTube I found two HD movies from Remy Martin and Baron Otard, where the tour is almost completely shot. It is an easy and inexpensive way to learn much about Cognac and these brands in general!

The Otard XO Gold draws its personality from a blend of Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie. It is rounded off with the Borderies which lend it the finesse of a delicately floral aroma, and by the Fins Bois which give it its vigour.
This provides a very special and tasteful Cognac, which is powerful, complex and a long taste.
The drop-shaped bottle of this XO Gold Otard, is especially awesome because of the on-lying family shield.
