Rémy Martin VSOP
Remy Martin VSOP is by many (including myself) regarded as the international standard for VSOP cognacs. This cognac is soft and has a refined taste, this cognac is the only cognac I would recommend for starting cognac drinkers. Therefore this is the first review I will write on CognacFans.com. This Fine Champagne Cognac contains grapes from the Grande and Petite Champagne region, with about 55% of the eaux-de-vie from the Grande Champagne and the rest from Petite Champagne.
The Remy Martin VSOP is a 4 to 12 year old cognac with an average age of 8 years. I personally think that the design of the bottle is one of the best in its category (VSOP).
A legend says that the matt green bottle was created by the fact that the cognacs were previously less well-filtered. Otherwise some residue in the bottle is shown.
The tasting notes of the Remy Martin VSOP are:
The color: sparkling gold.
The scent: vanilla, honey, flowers, fruits.
The taste: real Fine Champagne, warm but not overpowering, full scent of ripe fruit and vanilla. Little wood flavor.
The after-taste: balanced but short in length.
The origin: 55% Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne 45%.
The age: 4 to 12 year old cognac with an average age of 8 years.
The price: about $40, —

Wouter

I thought I’d treat myself to some Remy VSOP for the first time this Christmas season, instead of the usual courvossier. I find myself intrigued, elated and after a few glasses euphoric. The color is that of the finest gold. The smell is outer wordly. And yes the flavor is much more sophisticated and balanced than the former brand of cognac mentioned above. Drink ye men and women and enjoy the finer things in life!
