Rémy Martin 1738 Accord Royal
I regret to inform that Remy Martin’s new Cognac, 1738 Accord Royal, is not 273 years old. Would be quite old huh?!
The Rémy Martin 1738 Accord Royal is a Cognac made to fill up the gap between the VSOP and XO.
This Fine Champagne Cognac is blended from nearly 240 eaux-de-vies aged between 4 – 20 years in Limousin oak barrels.
Some History
The year was 1738 — only 14 years after Rémy Martin had founded his first vineyard. King Louis XV of France recognized the supreme quality of Rémy Martin’s fine cognac and decreed that he should be allowed to plant new vines on his land. The decree granted was the Accord Royal.
Blended and aged according to the expert craftsmanship that so pleased the royal palate, Remy Martin 1738 Accord Royal embodies the finest traditions of cognac making. A cognac that uniquely honors one of the highest marks of recognition, 1738 Accord Royal is a cognac of exquisite, robust and rich taste.
The tasting notes of the Rémy Martin 1738 Accord Royal are:
The color: dark copper.
The nose: oak, chocolate, toast, cinnamon and ginger.
The taste: complex like a XO Cognac, with some spicy fruit like Orange zest, chocolate, ginger, some flowers and oak.
The after-taste: Pleasant woody finish, which lasts very long.
The origin: 65% Grande Champagne and 35% Petite Champagne grapes.
Age: 4-20 years old. Because of the 4 years it is officially a VSOP-grade Cognac.
The price: $50,- about 15 bucks more expensive than the Rémy VSOP.
The conclusion: Good price difference between the VSOP and the XO. Worth the extra money above the Rémy VSOP.

[...] Rémy Martin 1738, unfortunately not available in my home country but luckily many friends bring this Cognac from the USA with them for me. It’s complex like a XO-cognac with a nice woody finish. Keep bringing this bottle! [...]
[...] Rémy Martin 1738 Accord Royal 2 is a lovely blend of over 240 eau de vies of cognac the minimum age is 4 years and the oldest 20 years. This makes it a bit short of an XO but on the flip side less than half the money (around $50 or so), also in its favor is that it has a higher percentage of Grande Champagne growth grapes than the VSOP This entry was posted in News, Photo and tagged 1738, Accord Royal, Remy Martin.
