Pierre Ferrand Ambre
I think I have a new favorite for the affordable Cognac, thats the Pierre Ferrand Ambre. This is a 100% Grande Champagne Cognac and aged on average 10 years. Unbelievable for the lowest in the range of a brand like Pierre Ferrand.
The price? Here at the wholesale this Cognac costs about 24 euros including VAT. At other off-licenses, this Cognac is almost always below 30 euros. Very well affordable!
In terms of quality class Ferrand doesn’t tell if this Cognac is a VS or VSOP. Even after some research I unfortunately didn’t find any information about this. For that reason I place this Cognac in both the VS and VSOP Cognac category.
The bottle and label are pretty classic but also modern at the same time. This is how I prefer to see a bottle of cognac!
The tasting notes of Pierre Ferrand Ambre are:
The color: orange gold.
The nose: aromatic delicious especially with fruit (orange, citrus and slightly apricot), vanilla, something oak, something sweet.
The taste: well rounded and deliciously fruity (citrus and apricots), honey, vanilla and oak. Delicious Cognac for a refreshing summer evening.
The after-taste: for a Cognac in this price category a very long after-taste.
The age: an age is not mention, taste seems technically a Cognac aged about 10 years.
The origin: 100% Grande Champagne Cognac.
The price: around 25 euros.
The price / quality ratio: a 9. I find this Cognac for this outrageous price a very good Cognac.
