Normann Copenhagen Cognac Glasses

16 January 2013 One Comment

Cognac Fans favorite Cognac Design glass comes from Normann Copenhagen, we even used a picture of it in our header above!

The design of the glass is beautiful, it is also fascinating to see the glass could spin like a top. As for glass to drink, I find it somewhat less suitable for brandy.

The glass is simply too broad and too big. As I once wrote, large brandy glasses are not very good for tasting because the alcohol is released too quickly so your nose will be paralyzed by the alcoholic-fumes.

Normann-Copenhagen also offers the same model as liqueur glasses, these are slightly smaller than the so called Cognac-Glass. If you decide to buy these awesome designer glasses, I recommend going for liqueur-glass model.

Price: about $61 for the Cognac-Glass, $47 for the Liqueur-Glass.

Pure pleasure for the man

The Cognac glass is a beautiful combination of function and pure pleasure. It is a glass constructed with consideration to its contentís aroma, temperature and volume. The shape of the glass increases the intimate experience of drinking cognac by accentuating the deep colour and movement of the liquid.

Place the Cognac glass on your table, and enjoy how it gently turns, exposing the fine aroma of your favorite cognac.

Rikke Hagen explains

I wanted to craft a cognac glass. The perfect gift to the man, who has everything. The inspiration springs from my own perception of when you drink a cognac; that is when you have time and in calm surroundings. I wanted the glass to give the user a feeling of a gentleman’s study and at the same time, the sense of calmness you get when you e.g. fondle a stone. The stem kept irritating me. I took the consequence andcut it off. That’s how my Cognac glass was born.

Dishwasher safe but we would recommend that you wash the Cognac glasses by hand- usingour soft Brush with natural bristles.

Apart from cognac the glasses can also be used for table decorations for example with water and a single flower head.

Thank you for this great article. My personal favorite Cognac Glass is the Norman Copenhagen Glass. Do you know the quote of the designer of this glass? It’s quite funny:

“The stem kept irritating me,” says Hagen. “I took the consequence and cut it off. That’s how my Cognac glass was born.”

This quote shows how the design got created. You’ll see the glasses in a different way with this background.
