New labels for Pierre de Segonzac

22 September 2011 One Comment

Pierre de Segonzac introduced new designs for their Cognac-bottles, the charismatic face of the maker Pierre Ferrand (not from the brand Pierre Ferrand) is now less showy. Although we like Pierre very much, we think it is a good move to change the labels, it is just a little bit strange to look at somebody’s face when poring a snifter of Cognac.

The bottles did also change, but the great quality has remained.

Have a look at the old and new XO labels, do you think it is an improvement?

Also the VSOP label changed…

I met the grand daughter of Pierre at a Cognac boutique in La Rochelle, France. After mentioning that I enjoyed his XO Champagne, she was very adamant that “they” stole his name and proceeded to let me sample just about everything in the store.
Walked away with a bottle of the the original XO as shown in your picture. Still have a few drams left…
