Hine Antique XO Fine Champagne – Cognac Review
Yesterday I bought some Hine Antique bottles for Cognac Tastings I regulary give in the Netherlands, strange enough I hadn’t reviewed this Cognac before so here it is!
The Hine Antique XO Fine Champagne is made from Grande and Petite Champagne spirits with at least 50% of Grande Champagne and contains more than 40 cognacs aged for more than one generation. This Cognac is replaced by a new Hine Antique XO made from 100% Grande Champagne Cognacs in 2010.
The new Antique XO Grande Champagne Cognac got a new bottle, personally we think it is a good move to change to the bottle because the old Fine Champagne Antique XO quality looks the same as the Hine Rare VSOP, a cognac that was 3 times cheaper…
Back on the Antique XO Fine Champagne we bought, the carafe is beautiful and suits each Cognac-cabinet. Also the stopper is really stunning, made from wood and real cork (no plasticized cork chips).

The most elegant of HINE’s cognacs : hints of spices and notes of vanilla on the nose; complex and long aromatic richness in the mouth.

The review notes of this Hine Antique XO Fine Champagne Cognac are:
The color: gold Mahony.
The nose: very rich nose, a little spicy and peppery, some fruit, cinnamon, nutmeg, and gentle lavender like floral aroma.
The taste: a full and supple body with notes of perfume and spice, this is a particularly spicy cognac with zinging top notes.
The after-taste: beautiful long finish with fruit and nutmeg
The origin: Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne
The age: more than 20 years.
The price: About 90 euro’s
The price / quality ratio: a 8+. Great tasting Cognac, one of my favorites. Although they aren’t being produced anymore, the availability and pricing are still quite reasonable.
