Never before there was so much global cognac sold as last year. Every second, five bottles sold.
Especially in the Far East the demand of Cognac in general and XO Quality was very high, association BNIC (Bureau National Interprofessionnel du Cognac ) reported on its website.
In 2011, 6.4 percent more bottles of cognac were sold, totaling 162.9 million units. Sales in China were 20 percent higher.
Of all the bottles, more than one third is being sold in the Far East. The Cognac consumption in Europe growth 0.4 percent to 46.9 million bottles.
The total monetary amount of cognac sold in 2011 equals 2,049 billion euros.
