Cognac: The Seductive Saga of the World’s Most Coveted Spirit

It’s fitting that a Paris-based novelist and International Herald Tribune editor should chronicle the history of the famously refined French brandy. And Jarrard does a nice job of it, offering a thorough, well-researched and objective history of cognac.

Normann Copenhagen Cognac Glasses

Cognac Fans favorite Cognac Design glass comes from Normann Copenhagen, we even used a picture of it in our header above!
The design of the glass is beautiful, it is also fascinating to see the glass could spin like a top. As for glass to drink, I find it somewhat less suitable for brandy.

Popcorn Sutton – This is the Last Dam Run of Likker I’ll Ever Make – Moonshine

However it hasn’t much to do about Cognac, I really wanted to share you a great documentary about Moonshine and the legendary Moonshine maker Popcorn Sutton.
Popcorn Sutton was also featured in the first season of Moonshiners, one of my favorite TV-shows on Discovery Channel.
Marvin “Popcorn” Sutton (October 5, 1946 – March 16, 2009) was an American Appalachian moonshiner, in this post I embedded his documentary: “This is the Last Dam Run of Likker I’ll Ever Make“.

French interior architect and designer Eric Gizard creates objects and living spaces where harmony and elegance reign. Martell has called upon his creativity to create a bottle for the most beautiful gem in its collection, L’OR de Jean Martell, an exceptional assembly of over 400 eaux-de-vie, the quintessence of cognac. This is an encounter with a man who values time.

The Cognac Rule

On Ned Dwyer’s Blog I found an interesting article about the “Whisky Rule”, it works pretty simple: If you cancel a meeting less than 10 minutes notice, or if you miss it completely then you owe your counterpart a bottle of whisky.
Why not introducing this simple and effective rule on Cognac? I think it will compensate the party who was left waiting for their time, also the party who haven’t cancelled the meeting will be more strict managing it’s time.

Final Touch Relax Cognac Glass

In our continuing search on the internet, we found a very interesting new style Cognac Glass named Final Touch Relax Cognac Glass! It looks like Normann Copenhagen Cognac Glasses we talked about earlier, but now it has three legs to support the glass.
Also there is a peak in the center of this cognac glass which mixes while sipping helping to unlock hidden aromas and deepen the flavor. Each set includes two 20 oz glasses. The unique shape conforms and contours to your hand, wrapping around the brandy glass and warmth to …

Courvoisier sponsors James Bond Skyfall

Yesterday we went to the cinema to see the latest episode of the James Bond collection; Skyfall. After seeing all James Bond movies ever made, I think Skyfall is definitely one of the best.
To finance such expensive productions, the producers need to find additional money in sponsor deals, for example Heineken paid $45 million for an partnership agreement with Sony Pictures for the use of Heineken products in the November Bond film Skyfall.

Visiting La Fontaine de la Pouyade

A few weeks ago we visited the makers of La Fontaine de La Pouyade, probably one of the best Cognacs in the world. We were invited to have a lunch and a comparable tasting against the Louis XIII and Richard Hennessy in their home near the beautiful place Royan.
It was great to eat, drink, talk and discuss with the makers of La Fontaine de La Pouyade, also it was interesting to note the extreme delicacy of La Fontaine de La Pouyade in a blind tasting compared to the Louis XIII and the …
